Commencing life as a consulting firm back in 1999, Pilbara Group has evolved into a consulting and software company.  The initial business of Pilbara Group was building large scale cost models for the Australian Defence Organisation.  It became apparent to us that the affordable cost modeling solutions were not robust enough for the large enterprise and the big vendor software was too expensive.  So the team developed their own cost modeling software, ACE, to use internally, providing a competitive advantage for the consulting practice.

However a large US client wanted to purchase the ACE software and also wanted the Pilbara Group team to host the solution and as a result, the ACE on-Demand solution was born.  Since then the software and on-Demand solution has been sold into a range of different industries including military, higher education, oil/gas and financial services.  It is also used in a range of countries including Australia, United States, United Kingdom and Mexico.

The team specializes in the development of cost, performance and predictive models using the powerful ACE on-Demand solution.

12/12/2011 3:18:34 PM by Lea Patterson

Operating in a rapidly evolving commercial environment and buffeted by changes in government policy, the correlation between Management Accounting and stronger business decision making in the Higher Education sector is being increasingly appreciated. In these challenging times, the elevation of Management Accountant to a core business function needs to coincide with improved strategic planning and finance transformation. In a changing landscape for domestic and international student enrollment, breakthrough tools and models are required for ongoing success.

Liquid Learning is delighted to present the 2nd Annual Higher Education Strategic Management Accounting Forum. Building off last year’s successful event, this highly practical, outcome focused forum will offer a premium professional development and networking opportunity for management accountants in the current higher education context. Through a number of case studies from both domestic and international universities, participants will exchange ideas and consider new possibilities for improvement in this critical moment for Higher Education transformation and reform.
